Clinical Will what it will do
Should the unfortunate happen, and you are no longer able to work, what becomes of your clients, your records and your professional obligations? A clinical will sets out exactly how your practice is to be managed should you die or become incapacitated, so that the people who depend on you, your clients, are looked after, and your professional and legal responsibilities are met, without placing that burden on a grieving colleague or family member.
What the service covers
Consider It Handled works with you to prepare a clinical will that addresses every practical aspect of a practice closure, including:
- notifying and referring on your clients
- managing any risk or safeguarding issues that require immediate attention
- handling office lease or premises obligations
- cancelling professional memberships and registrations
- securing and handling practice records and documentation
How it works
Setting up your will. You complete a detailed questionnaire and take part in a consultation, so that your wishes and the specifics of your practice are properly recorded.
Secure storage. Your clinical will is held electronically, with confidential access limited to you and Consider It Handled.
Execution. Should the need arise, a qualified executor carries out your documented wishes on your behalf.
Why this matters now
Since 1 September 2023, BACP, UKCP, NCIP and BABCP have required registered practitioners to hold a professional clinical will. Consider It Handled offers an independent, professionally managed alternative to leaving these arrangements to colleagues who are themselves grieving.
Fees
Setup fee: £150 (one-off)
Annual subscription: £100 per year
Monthly subscription: £10 per month
Additional support: £30 per hour, for practices with more than 25 clients, payable from the estate
